Many years ago, they opened a Pfaltzgraff outlet store in South Lake Tahoe. One of our favorite things to do up there was check out the the little strip mall of outlet stores. Yes, we also love to ski, sled, hike, bike, kayak, etc. but we also love to scout out deals! At the Pfaltzgraff store, they had the prettiest Winterberry dishes and I fell in love! The problem was I couldn’t afford to buy myself a whole new set of dishes. Even at the outlet, those dishes were a little expensive. My sister made a suggestion that I ask for the dishes for Christmas presents from friend and family, so that’s what I did. These are folks that would buy us gifts any way and they were pleased to know something specific they could buy for us. I also was able to buy some for myself. I couldn’t afford everything, but I could afford some!
Now I have a lovely collection of dishes, many serving pieces and even matching table linens, dishtowels and hot pads. Our family always puts our Christmas decorations up the day after Thanksgiving, so that is the day my Winterberry dishes come out and they become our everyday dishes from that day until after New Years Day. The great thing about the pattern I chose is they are not Christmas specific other than being white, red and green, so I can extend the use of them.
I made sure to have lots of place settings too, because I wanted to have enough plates to use at larger family gatherings. I can’t say enough good things about the quality of Pfaltzgraff products! I have had these dishes for probably 15-20 years and not a single piece has broken or even chipped! They are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.
So if you’ve thought of getting a collection of Christmas dishes, I hope these ideas help you out!
Merry Christmas!!!
