OK, I’ll admit it! I have a problem! I’m addicted to all things cooking related. I even like to watch movies and TV shows related to cooking.  I recently renewed our Hulu subscription, so I could watch their original series 11-22-63 (which I highly recommend!!!). I was cruising around Hulu and looking at the food related shows they offer and ran across Kitchen Confidential. I had heard of Anthony Bourdain’s book of the same title, but had no idea a TV series had been made based on the book. AND it stars Bradley Cooper??? Score!

This show is definitely worth your time!  They only made one season, so it’s not a big time commitment. I’m surprised they didn’t make a second season, as I and my husband really enjoy this show. From what I could find online, it appears the show was battling with baseball for time slots and got lost in the shuffle.

The cast of this show is great! It is a light-hearted look at the New York culinary world and the cast members are charming and funny. Plus, if you love food, you’ll dig all the fabulous meals being created.

Anyway, if you have Hulu I strongly suggest you check out this show. It is definitely good for a laugh and Bradley Cooper is easy on the eyes! It is not for the kiddies though.

Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Tip #14 – Food Network To The Rescue!

Looking for help or suggestions for your Thanksgiving dinner? The Food Network is showing numerous shows with a Thanksgiving theme that will inspire you with delicious recipes! The network has shows in a variety of formats from educational to competitive and almost all of them are showing Thanksgiving episodes.

Pretty much anytime I sit down to watch TV, I search through the network on my TV guide and set up the Thanksgiving shows to record.

One of the best shows I’ve watched so far is the Pioneer Woman’s Ultimate Thanksgiving. That girl does love her butter, but the recipes look fantastic and I know I’m going to be trying a few this year; Maple Whiskey Turkey and Very Berry Cranberry Sauce, just to name a few! Luckily, they are showing this show and some of Ree Drummond’s other Thanksgiving shows repeatedly, so you can search your TV guide on “Pioneer Woman” and still find showings.

Another great thing about this network is they have a very robust website. You can find many of the recipes shown in the episodes on the website. All of the recipes from the Pioneer Woman special are on there.

So check out the channel on TV or take a look at their website (foodnetwork.com) for some great Thanksgiving inspiration! I have AT&T U-verse and the Food Network is on channels 453 & 1453 (HD), but this might differ for you. They also have a great app available for your phone and tablets.

I hope you can find some additional Thanksgiving inspiration!

The Great Food Truck Race – My New TV Addiction

OK, I’ll admit it. I have a new addiction. I just finished watching the latest season of The Great Food Truck race and I’m hooked! Then they had to go and load previous seasons on Netflix. Can you say binge watching!?!

I’m not exactly sure why, but I have been really enjoying this show. Maybe it’s because it’s part cooking show and part travel adventure, like the Amazing Race. The show starts with numerous teams of three people and each team is given a food truck that has been decorated based on designs the team submitted. The teams travel to a different city each episode, sometimes more than one city and they have cooking challenges along the way. Sometimes they have to cook with a certain ingredient or they have to sell a certain amount of something before they can move to the next location. Each of the trucks has a different food theme/point of view, so this also makes for an interesting show.

In most of the seasons, the folks have never worked in or driven a food truck before, so watching them try to drive and park these monstrosities is amusing! Let’s just say that in one town a city light pole got knocked over and that’s just one example of property damage. As big as the trucks are to drive and park, they are a mighty small kitchen for 3 people! And some of these people can’t even figure out how to get the equipment working.

The host, Tyler Florence, is a chef and restaurateur. He actually has a few restaurants in the Northern California area; Wayfare Tavern (San Francisco), Rotisserie & Wine (Napa), El Paseo (Mill Valley). I find him to be very charming and well, easy on the eyes. Hey a good looking guy that can cook! Sounds like a keeper to me!

Anyway, if you’re a fan of cooking shows I highly recommend this one. It’s a fun watch. As I mentioned earlier, the newest season just wrapped up, but you might be able to find it on OnDemand. This newest season has the contestants travelling along Route 66. This was a pretty cool trip to see! The show is a Food Network production. And don’t forget there are 3 seasons available on Netflix. It’s listed as 21 episodes of one season, but it is actually 3 separate seasons.

Happy binge watching!

I went to summer camp as a kid. LOVED IT!!! When my daughters were old enough, they went to summer camp and I went along as a counselor. LOVED IT!!! And my children seemed to survive the trauma of having me with them at camp!As I’ve gotten older and have been having some medical issues, I haven’t attended camp the last couple of years. That must be why I am missing it and this summer I have been obsessed with all shows camp related!

And joy of joys, there is a cooking show that is camp related!!! There is a God and He loves me!!!

If you haven’t checked it out, the new episodes of the Food Network’s Camp Cutthroat are tremendously entertaining! I initially was a fan of the regular Cutthroat Kitchen, but over time it just kind of dropped down on my list of favorite cooking shows. This new version though, is SOOOO much fun!!! It’s only two episodes in, so you haven’t missed much.

It appears to be filmed on the former set of the Fox Network show Utopia, which is just beautiful! The challenges are so harsh that’s amazing eatable food can even be produced. I seriously doubt the food is that good, but it sure is good TV! The challenges are over the top difficult, but very reminiscent of summer camp games. The absolute best thing is the person they have running around in the “Bob the Bear” costume. It’s hysterical! It is the shortest little bear trying to be so vicious. And one of the best scenes was when food judge, Simon Majumdar, stopped to dance with the bear. Too funny!

Anyway, it’s worth a watch and one of the few family friendly shows out there. So take a look and enjoy a trip down summer camp memory lane!
